During my last years at school I started going to rave parties and discos. This led to taking social drugs such as alcohol, marijuana, LSD, ecstasy, speed and cocaine. I became even more involved in the drug-taking lifestyle; but I was fast tiring of it…

The drugs affected my health, and I suffered from a back complaint. The ecstasy tablets dehydrated my spinal fluid, and some mornings I had difficulty just bending over to wash my face. I was becoming dependant on drugs, and couldn’t go out socially unless I was under their influence so I realized that there must be a better way to live.

When I was 19, I injured my ankle playing Rugby Union and went to the gym for rehabilitation. My instructor told me about miracles that he had experienced and that I needed to receive the Holy Spirit. I kept thinking about what he’d told me about being ‘born again’ and that there was a way for old things to become new.

I attended my first meeting and saw people who were happy, singing and glad to be in church. I was baptized right under the water. I felt a weight lift from my shoulders and felt extremely clean, I knew that I had made a good decision. Soon after that I prayed for the Holy Spirit and started to speak in a different language. I felt a power go through me and I knew that I was never going to be the same again; I knew I’d been ‘born again’.

I was healed from back pain and the desire for alcohol, drugs and my old music left me, and I saw the vanity of rave parties and discos. The Lord gave me a new way of thinking and a hope that I could share with other people. I never thought that the Lord could change my life in the way that He has.

I am now married and have children of my own that I can parent with confidence because the Bible is my guide in life. The Lord is my foundation and my guide in all my decision-making, and He has blessed me so much.

I was in a wheelchair, which doctors said I would remain in for the rest of my life.

In 1989 a lady knocked on my door and invited me to a Revival Fellowship meeting. I told her to go away, I had had enough bad experiences with religion in the past from being brought up in church boarding schools, but this lady persisted and eventually convinced me to go to a meeting by asking me the question, what have you got to lose? Looking at my life I could honestly say the answer was nothing. I went to the church meeting where I was told I could be healed by the power of God.

Years earlier I had been in a car accident and had damaged my spine. After numerous operations I was in a wheelchair, which doctors said I would remain in for the rest of my life. I was taking sixteen pain killing tablets a day as well as large amounts of alcohol to numb the pain and had a full time carer, as I could do nothing for myself.

People prayed with me to receive the Holy Spirit and have my back healed. Nothing seemed to happen during the prayer other than I had a desire to be baptised, which I did. I was baptised by full immersion just like Jesus was and I came out of the water speaking in tongues, which proved to me that there was a God. When I was offered help to get out of the baptism tank I refused and stood up myself. I walked down the steps, into the dressing room and dressed myself for the first time in twelve years. I threw all my painkillers away and have not taken any since.

It is now seventeen years later and I live a very blessed life.

Bev : Healed by God from glaucoma

I was diagnosed with glaucoma, a deteriorating, irreversible eye condition.
In 1965, a man knocked on my door with an invitation to a Revival meeting.

At this meeting I was shown from the bible that I could have a personal experience with God, that believers received the gift of the Holy Spirit. I sought God and this experience came to me while praying with a repentant heart – God filled me with his Holy Spirit, and I knew this because I spoke in a new tongue – a language I had never learnt. I was then baptised by full immersion in water.

Since then, God has continually demonstrated his love toward me. Ten years ago I suffered from Alopecia and suddenly lost all my hair after a shock. My hairdresser consulted university experts who considered the baldness permanent due to the severity of the Alopecia. Trusting in the mercy of the Lord, I knew that God would not leave me in that state. After praying to be healed, the Lord graciously restored my hair completely.

A short time ago my optometrist diagnosed me with glaucoma, a deteriorating, irreversible eye condition. At my age this complaint is not uncommon, but I would not accept this condition as I had been praising God for my good eye-sight. I told the optometrist I had prayed to be healed and expected to have a good report, his reply was patronising but in his examination, I could tell something was not as he expected. In his examination he found no sign of glaucoma.

The almighty God assures me continually of his love for me and I praise Him for He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Paddy : From suicidal to abundant life

I told the doctor that I had God on my side. The doctor said, “Yes Paddy, it shows!”
In 1991 I was at the end of my tether, I decided after seven horrible, miserable years of caring for my Mum after a stroke, then Dad who was blind and dying from cancer, life was not worth living. I planned to commit suicide when Dad died and in my despair I called out to God.

Three days later I was invited to a Revival Fellowship meeting, I went out to have prayer for my father and I immediately received the Holy Spirit with an awesome infilling. I went from wanting to die to wanting to live. H had found peace and could not stop smiling.

I was healed of osteoarthritis, Bronchitis and Bronchial Pneumonia. My Chronic Dermatitis was so severe it may soon have needed a skin graft to enable it to heal, but God has totally healed me.

In 2002 a four-wheel drive reversed into me as I was walking along. I had broken ribs, a cracked collarbone, internal bleeding, a bruised kidney and a cracked kneecap. The Orthopaedic team at the hospital said “In view of your age you will get pneumonia and blood clots in your lungs.” I told them “God will raise me up.” I was 100% sure. It didn’t happen overnight but it did happen.
