Allan : I knew it was more than a coincidence.

I was brought up in a main line church and attended a religious school. I believed in God but had teachers who taught evolution and explained away the miracles of the bible.

When I reached my teens I followed my peers, I stopped going to church, started drinking and smoking and became a social drug user. By 1982 I was living with my girlfriend (Sharon) in Cairns, thinking life was nice and ‘cruisey’.  Whilst spending time apart due to work, Sharon and I both had the true gospel told to us by completely different people, thousands of kilometres apart. We were told about water baptism and receiving the Holy Spirit.

When I realised that we had both heard the same message, I knew it was more than just a coincidence. We moved to the Gold Coast where we were baptised. When I called on the Lord from my heart, I received the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. From that moment on I had no desire to drink alcohol or smoke drugs. I felt I was shedding a burden I never knew I had. Sharon and I were married and together live a life of complete contentment.
